A few weeks ago my brother sent me a text.
He suggested that we both run in the Air Force Marathon 5k in September. When I say “run”, I use the term very loosely when referencing myself. I anticipate it will be more like walking with a small amount of jogging thrown in. He usually runs in the full or half marathon, and I think his plan was to run the 5k with me on Friday night and then the marathon on Saturday.
I thought about it a bit and went and signed up before I could talk myself out of it. This is something completely outside of my comfort zone. In fact, when I was a kid and even when I was in the Army, I HATED running. I hated every second of it, but I think it’s one of the only things that is going to help me get my health back, so I need to do it.
Unfortunately, later my brother had to back out, as due to the nature of his job he will likely not have many, if any, days off this fall. I am still going to do it, and actually I’m going to run another 5k before this one
Here’s a quick video about the 2011 marathon, 5k, and 10k.
