My name is Mike, and I’m a 37 year old fat guy. I’m married and have two growing boys. I live in Columbus, Ohio, and this is my weight loss story in progress.
I didn’t want to be a fat guy, but it just kind of happened.
It didn’t happen in a quick way, it happened in a sneaky, dirty, backhanded, lazy, ninja way. I went to bed as a skinny guy, 10 years later I woke up as a fat slob.
The thing is, I knew it was happening all along. I just didn’t care enough to stop it.
Being fat isn’t even the worst part about being fat. It’s the lethargy and laziness that accompanies it. I’m too tired/lazy to do things. I’m sad about being too tired or lazy to do things, so I eat more. It’s a vicious cycle, and this is my attempt to break it.
I need motivation, and I need accountability, and I need both of those things to be public in order to succeed this time. I don’t want there to be a next time. I want to lose the weight, change my life, and live longer, and this blog is one of the ways I’m doing that.
I’m not a fitness guru, and I don’t have all the answers. I’m simply a guy trying to explain what is working for me, and trying to learn what is working for others.
I’m using my Fitbit Ultra, Endomondo, MyFitnessPal and various other tools to keep track of my increased activity, count my calories and lose weight. This blog is about ways to get to the end of the road.
